Sean Mannix is a seasoned law enforcement professional with 36 years of experience in public safety. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held significant leadership positions, including Assistant Chief of Police in Austin and Cedar Park, Texas. His dedication has been centered on improving policing strategies, implementing advanced officer training, and fostering strong community relationships. After retiring in 2020, he continued to serve the public as the Statewide Traffic Incident Management Coordinator for the Texas Department of Transportation. Born in California as one of five children, Sean always knew he wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, inspired by his father, who was also a police officer. At 18, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, which helped him develop leadership skills and a robust work ethic. After completing his military service, he returned to Alameda, California, where he began his law enforcement career at age 20 as the youngest officer at the Alameda Police Department. He spent his early years learning various aspects of the job, including patrol duties and emergency response. In 1993, Sean moved to Austin, Texas, to continue his law enforcement career with the Austin Police Department. He advanced through the ranks over the next 20 years, becoming Assistant Chief. His leadership was marked by significant achievements, such as reducing crime through the COMPSTAT model, enhancing community outreach, and promoting partnerships with federal agencies like the FBI and DEA. His work across divisions such as Organized Crime and Crime Prevention helped strengthen the department's effectiveness. In 2013, Sean took on the challenge of becoming Cedar Park's Chief of Police. He worked tirelessly to improve officer training programs and emphasize community policing, focusing on building positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. He also introduced innovative initiatives such as de-escalation training, body-worn cameras, and a wellness program for officers, which gained national recognition. Under his leadership, the Cedar Park Police Department became a highly respected and desirable workplace. After retiring from active duty in 2020, Sean remained involved in public service by serving as a board member for Sigma Tactical Wellness, an organization dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of first responders. He also supports Williamson County Crime Stoppers, helping to solve crimes and improve public safety. Beyond his professional life, Sean Mannix is a dedicated family man. He and his wife, Eileen, have four daughters and look forward to celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in 2025. In his time, Sean enjoys aviation, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He believes in lifelong learning and continues pursuing knowledge through professional reading or personal interests.
